Prom Painting

This painting was completed as part of my 2D Foundations class in college. The goal of the assignment was to paint a self portrait of the entire human figure. I chose this prom photo of my boyfriend and I for the composition because of the symmetry, variety of textures, and color scheme. The project presented the task of mixing all of the colors in the painting using only yellow, magenta, blue, black, and white paints. This lesson in color theory proved to be a challenge but taught me about hue, temperature, value, and saturation.
